Short History of the
East Lindsey Metaphiscal Society
The East Lindsey Metaphysical Society was formed in the late 1960s. It was created due to the increase in hauntings. The experience of some of the society members was invaluable.
The group seen in the picture above are some of the former members of our society. Unfortunately, as mentioned in a previous page, most members have passed. It is to their credit that most of the cases were resolved, and their voices can still be heard through the pictures and notes taken at that time.
Most of the equipment was primitive by today’s standards, i.e., simple reel-to-reel tape recorders, 35mm and semi-professional still cameras, 8mm motion film cameras, one black and white closed circuit TV camera, thermometers, pen and paper and a black and white television.
Some people within the society were professionals, i.e. local photographers and reporters, film and equipment sales technicians, electrical engineers, mediums and sensitives.
Not all of the reported hauntings were genuine. Although most were, some of the hauntings were to attract attention to that person. Most of the time, the society members did find the genuine ones.
Not all hauntings were local; some were out of town. Of course, this relied on those with cars. We sometimes needed to go back to deal with the situation several times.
Usually, someone would take notes, mainly if questions were asked. Consistency was necessary on all occasions. All the notes taken at that time and typed up still exist today; some will be included in Jim's next book.
