Films

Many years ago, I belonged to a cine society. Many experienced people helped you find the film camera that suited your needs, shoot your film, edit and put sound on.

We made films shot on 8mm with a small group from the society. Several competitions were held each year in different categories, and a small cup and certificate were awarded when you entered the best film of the year competition.

I learned how to write film scripts, edit and do many other jobs to make an excellent short film. A 20-minute story film would take around eight months to complete due to only being able to film on weekends as most of us had full-time jobs.

The main film that our group were proud of was called 'The Uninvited.' It was a psychological thriller. It ran for approximately 20 minutes, colour and sound.

Small societies like this can help you learn and achieve much, even on a small budget.
